Affiliate Marketing Survival Tips

Once you’ve signed up for what appears to be a great affiliate program, you’ve already developed your strategy, selected your banners, and other materials for marketing.

Once you’ve figured everything out, you may still have problems developing marketing strategies and find yourself wondering what’s wrong. Below, you’ll find some of the most common issues that affect sales commissions and leads.

Soggy cookies A lot of merchants use cookies for tracking your referrals. As a majority of customers don’t purchase on the first visit, cookies allow for potential referrals to be tagged with your ID so that if they do purchase later, you’ll get the credit for the sale.

The durations for the cookies will vary from merchant to merchant. Some last as short as a single session, while others can last for years.

If the visitor flushes their cookies on a regular basis, has cookie blocking software, or the program from the merchant isn’t operating correctly, there really isn’t anything you can do.

Multiple methods of payment If you’ve joined an affiliate program through a network that processes payments of products on behalf of merchants, it’s not uncommon for merchants to offer several methods of payment. While this is great for customers, it’s bad for affiliates.

Before you begin to advertise any products or services as an affiliate of a network, always check the merchant site carefully. If you have any doubt, contact the merchant before you proceed any further.

Monitoring your arrangements Even the most honest of merchants will have problems with their affiliate software at some point in time. Therefore, it’s important to regularly check cookies and merchant sites for any changes that may affect your pay.

A Brief History About Blogging

Posted by admin

blogging-profitsThe word blog is an abbreviation of ‘weblog’, In the early days, these weblogs were almost exclusively for personal online journals. People would create a site telling the world about themselves and what they were doing by typing information into a ready-made page format, before publishing that information for the world to see in a matter of minutes.

The great thing about blogs was that previously you would have needed some level of HTML skills to create a webpage, but using a blogging platform meant that all you needed to do was type and then hit the button to publish.

Since those early days, blogs have moved on and now a significant percentage of them are business focused. The majority of these business-based blogs are focused in a particular way.

The majority provide information rather than products or services for sale.  On any blog site you create, it is necessary to provide valuable free information that will keep your visitors coming back time after time, irrespective of how you plan to make money from your site.

The first question that you need to ask yourself, when considering creating your first moneymaking blog site is: ’What kind of information should I provide through my blog?’

Before making this decision, there is another important thing that you need to understand and be ready to embrace.

Anyone can start ‘their own successful online business’?  In the beginning, it is crucial that you understand that what you are doing is creating a business.

This is not about making a site as a hobby or a pastime that you can take or leave. Approach this project in that way and the money that you earn from your site will reflect your attitude and approach. If you do not adopt a professional, hard working attitude to the development of your blog-based business, the chances of earning anything other than peanuts are very slim.

If you have been around online business or internet marketing for a while, you probably have seen (and maybe even bought) products that promised to make you thousands of dollars from just a few minutes of easy work every day. If you have bought such a product, you have probably been disappointed that it was nowhere near as good or as helpful as you expected it to be. But there is a reason for this.

Working or running a business on the internet is no different from running a regular “brick and mortar” business.  If you had your own store, you would have to put in the hours and the work. If you are running a net-based business, then you have to do exactly the same.

You cannot be successful – and by successful, I mean you cannot expect to earn a six-figure salary every year – if you are not professional and willing to do the hard work that has to be done.

Building A Home Internet Business For Moms

Posted by admin

home-internet-businessMoms, I know that building a home internet business can be daunting, but with the right effort, it can be done. Developing a marketing plan will help your business grow. It’s not hard to create or utilize. Yet it does need to be used regularly for it to be effective.

In building a home internet business, your advertising strategies need to be planned every week. To start with, advertise in the same areas all the time and record your responses. Find out where and when your ads were, and how many people looked at them. Doing this online is easy with “ad trackers” and “website statistics trackers”.

After you find out how your first ads did, branch out to other kinds of advertising both online and offline. You can start with free ads and maybe even to go to “pay per click” submission services” after earning some money. Research has indicated that a customer may have to view an ad five or six times before making a response. You may have to place ads for weeks before you see results.

To help determine a marketing plan for building a home internet business, ask the following questions:

  • Who would be my customers and potential customers?
  • What characteristics would they have?
  • Where would they live?
  • How much spending power do they have?
  • Is my product the best it can be?
  • Would my prices be considered right by potential customers?
  • What is my business’ reputation?
  • How does my business compare to businesses in the same field?

The answers to these questions would help you devise a marketing plan. In answer to the first question, you can find out who your audience is by making a profile of your ideal customer. In answer to the last question, study your competition. Find out their strengths and weaknesses. Can you do something that they can’t? Can they do things you don’t or can’t do?

Advertising is a crucial factor in building a home internet business. Advertising can inform customers of the benefits of your product, give you an identity and reputation, and lure new customers and replace lost ones. You can do cheap advertising research by going to the library. Sources you might want consider in a library are Gales directory, Bureau of Labor Statistics, economic statistics and research, and population and demographic research.

Emarketing is viable in building a home internet business. It’s much cheaper than direct mail and can be as effective. Studies have shown that emarketing response rates are higher than direct mail’s–5% to 35% compared to 1% to 3%.

If you offer an email newsletter, you can gather demographic information of customers such as age, gender, income, and hobbies which can help you target your advertising. With careful research, you can use advertising to your advantage in your home internet business.

In recent months blogs have become more and more popular all over the internet. A blog, or weblog, is a personal Web site updated frequently with links, commentary and anything else you like. People maintained blogs long before the term was coined, but the trend gained momentum with the introduction of automated published systems, most notably Blogger. ( http://www.blogger.com ) At blogger.com Thousands of people use services such as Blogger to simplify and accelerate the publishing process. This makes it very simple to create several 100 pages within a site all with the same look and feel but with different content. This of coarse is exactly what the major search engines are looking for.

There are several reasons why a work from home internet business entrepreneur like my self would use blogs in their arsenal of marketing tools. The number one reason for me is to gain better search engine exposure. I have several blogs already started. Every time I write a new article or find a good one someone else wrote, I submit it into my blog which creates a new page in my site. The search engines will find and spider this new page. I also have a work from home tips blog which I try to post several good tips to each week. This is all great content for my work from home internet business web site that my visitors will hopefully want to read.

Starting a blog also create opportunities for more search engine submissions. Recently with the popularity of blogs special blog search engines have started to emerge. The only way you can submit to one of these special blog search engines is if you have a blog yourself. Blogs create a special rss or xml files that these search engines will look for.

Setting up your blog may initially take some time and effort but it’s made much simpler if you use blogger.com. But do not use Blogger’s hosting service. Be sure to use your own domain and hosing service. This will get you the best results with the search engines. Once you have chosen your main template look and feel of your blog all you need to do is keep posting new and good content that your readers would be interested in to your blog. Eventually over time you will have 100’s pages of great content that your visitors will enjoy reading all spidered by the major search engines giving you more traffic and exposure.

Affiliate Marketing Program Pitfalls

Posted by admin

affiliate-marketingEven though affiliate marketing is an excellent way to earn money, there are several pitfalls that you’ll need to be aware of.  As long as people have been earning money, people have also tried to figure out how to earn more by doing a lot less.

All you need to do is a quick online search for “work from home” or “making easy money”.  You’ll instantly find millions of websites, simply click on a few and you’ll notice that they all start off the same.  You’ll see a guy with a big house and a lot of money saying if you sign up, this could be you – how far from the truth!

The only way you can earn a good, stable income is to put in the hard work it takes.  Before you join any affiliate program, you need to do the proper research.  That’s one of the best benefits of the internet – finding the information you need.

All you need to do is search for the name of the affiliate program that your interested in, adding the word scam to it and see what pops up.  You should also join some work from home forums, and don’t be afraid to ask the right questions.

There are a few ways that you can tell what program is most likely a scam.  If a program doesn’t tell you their compensation plan unless you sign up, watch out.  A lot of programs won’t tell you what you’ll be doing unless you buy a kit for a set price.

With any program, there should always be 100% free disclosure.  You’ll need to know what you are going to be doing before you even start.  If a program doesn’t tell you what you are going to be doing or if you have to pay money first, you should avoid it.
